Hi. My name is Ed Baker and I am a financial disaster.
I have always been terrible at managing my money and at the tender age of 35 I found myself in a dead end job, on a dead end salary and £20,000 in debt (at the current exchange rate that is $39,315). And that was just the credit cards and store cards. It didn’t include my mortgage. My wages just about covered my normal outgoings and the minimum credit card payments each month. I was going nowhere fast.
And so, about a year ago I came to the astonishing conclusion that I needed to increase my income (duh!). Overtime at work was not an option and there was no way I was going to take another wage-slave job. I hated the one I had, why on earth would I want another one?
While surfing around on the internet I kept stumbling across sites that talked about making money online. And they made it sound sooo easy. GREAT! I thought. That’s what I will do. If some other jackass can make hundreds of thousands online then I’m damn sure I can too. I bought ebook after ebook trying to find the magic formula for making money online. I bought software that promised to give me the edge I needed and audio recordings of internet marketing seminars. I absorbed EVERYTHING I could on how to make money online.
A year later… and I’ve spent over $2500 on research and software and I’ve made exactly…
$42.07.
That’s right. Read the words. Forty two dollars and seven cents.
I have managed to sell ‘one’ ebook through an affiliate link and made $34, and I’ve made a total of $8.07 from adsense.

And so, as of today I am over £20,000 in debt and feel dizzy with all the wasted money and effort.
Frustrated? You bet I am! And out of my gnawing frustration this blog has been born.
My goals for this blog are as follows…
- To document my attempts to make money online.
- To show others out there who are trying to make money online and failing miserably that they are not alone. That not everyone on the business side of the web is making a small fortune every month/week/day.
- For others who are experiencing success with their online ventures to grace me with some words of wisdom or constructive criticism.
Like you, I want to make money. But I’m not some ‘head in the clouds’ kind of guy that thinks he can run a few ppc ads and make a fortune over night.
In fact, my financial goal is quite simple.
At the moment I am making practically nothing from my online marketing efforts. And so my primary target is just to start making some money. I think a reasonable amount would be $200 per month. Believe me, I would be pleased with that!

From this moment on I will document each day what I have done to try and make money. I will show you how much I have spent and how much I have made. You will be able to keep track of my every move and even comment on what I am doing by visiting my journal.
And as I learn from my mistakes (and hopefully successes) I hope you will too.
I don’t want to be frustrated any more. I just want to make a few extra bucks a month. Is that too much to ask?
I will try and post every single day. If I do absolutely nothing to try and make money online then I will tell you. Sure, this blog could get boring occasionally but I want you to be able to track everything I do. And if you feel like slamming me for doing nothing you are free to do so. It might be the kick up the ass I need.
Onwards and upwards.
