Day Four

Feeling grumpy and short of words after being back at work today. That place sure knows how to drain my enthusiasm.
I checked the latest on my adwords campaign. Todays stats are as follows…
A total of 632 impressions and 14 clicks for a CTR of 2.21%. And I still haven’t made a sale. It’s not surprising as it is still early in the campaign. I said previously that I would give it a week before deciding whether to pull the plug on it. But how do I judge whether it’s a success or not? Apprarently a conversion rate of 2% would be considered a good return. This means…
For it to be a success I really need to be looking at selling the affiliate product once every 50 clicks. This amount of clicks at the current rate would cost me approximately $12. My affiliate commission for this product is $16 so I would make a grand profit of $4.
This doesn’t sound like much but this adwords campaign is run on a very small budget in order to ‘test the water’. If I do manage to sell a couple of products every one hundred clicks (approx.) then I will bump up the budget. If I later run it with a target of 500 clicks per week (ideally selling 10 affiliate products per week) with an approximate profit of $4 each then that’s an extra $40 per week I would make. Multiply that by four weeks each month and I could make $160 dollars per month which is close to my target of reaching a regular $200 per month on top of my ‘wage slave’ income.
This is all pure speculation of course and if this adwords campaign ends up like all the others I’ve done then I probably won’t sell anything and would have just thrown more money away.
The next thing I’m going to try (apart from all the work I want to do on this blog) is a little bit ‘desperate’ for my liking, but I’m going to swallow my pride and give it a go.
It’s the old signature link forum method. I’m going to locate a good product, find a few relevant forums, add the affiliate link to my signature and start posting away. Not any old spam mind you. It will have to be a product I’m interested in so I can talk about the topic in forums. I hate spammers and don’t intend to become one. I will try and bring value to any forum I participate in and just hope that a few of the members will buy the ‘relevant’ affiliate product via my signature link. I ‘re-discovered’ this tactic from an ebook I bought for $7.00. It’s called On Demand Profits and you can find it here if you are interested. And yes, it is an affiliate link.
As always I will keep you posted on whether I have success with this method or not.
P.S. Much love to all the mybloglog readers.
